What's The Beef With Your Jerky?

It's probably the beef. Due to cheap subsidized corn in the U.S. millions of cattle are raised in close quarters and fed an unhealthy diet. You would probably lose your appetite if you were to see one of these Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations, or CAFOs.

In the feed lots cattle are fed mainly corn instead of their natural diet of grass. This shortens the time to slaughter from four to five years for grass grazed cattle to fourteen to sixteen months for the feed lot animals. This results in higher profit for the producers, but lower quality beef for the consumer.

Added to their corn feeding the cattle also receive liquefied fat and protein supplements, antibiotics, liqid vitamins and synthetic estrogen among other things. This is a diet that would kill the cattle which is why they are raised at an accelerated rate for early slaughter.

The waste from these animals is toxic and unfit for use as fertilizer. It ends up polluting our waterways killing and genetically modifying fish and other aquatic life.

Jerky Direct uses only grass fed and/or certified organic beef that is not raised in the huge industrialized feedlots. The organic certification guarantees that any animal used is at least second generation organic diet fed and free from all unnatural chemicals and additives.

The result is a more flavorful, lower calorie, healthier, and more tender jerky you can trust for yourself and your children.
